Gen7 Lawsuit
The co-owners of Original Traders Energy (OTE) have filed a huge lawsuit against the couple who control Gen7. The lawsuit alleges that millions of dollars were stolen and misused. With massive unpaid tax bills and a yacht ironically called "Cuz WE Can", the story has created quite a stir.
The implications of the lawsuit could be far-reaching both for Gen7 and OTE. It could also impact customers at both Gen7 branded stations and other stations supplied by OTE. There are currently 9 Gen7 gas stations in operation. As well as several other stations that OTE provides fuel for. If the allegations are proven true, it could have a major impact on First Nations gas stations in Ontario.
At this point, nothing has been proven in court and it could be some time before any conclusions are reached. It will be interesting to see how this plays out and what the ultimate impact will be. We'll keep you posted as we learn more!
End of year update
As we close out 2022 we haven't seen any follow up to this story. It does look like the Gen7 in Oneida has been rebranded. It's no longer present on the Gen7 website and its Facebook page has been removed.
